Hebden Bridge photographer Steve Morgan has had one of his images chosen for a prestigious exhibition as part of the Environmental Photographer of the Year 2014 competition.

The image, of a Solar Thermal Tower in Southern Spain, is one of 80 chosen from over 10,000 images to form part of an photographic exhibition earlier in the summer at the Royal Geographical Society in London and is now showing at both Grizedale Forest Visitors Centre, Cumbria, and Wyre Forest Community Discovery Centre, Worcestershire, until November 2.

The 80 selected images have been captured by amateur and professional photographers alike who have travelled to all corners of the earth to produce powerful images of the daily struggle in many cities across the globe.

Steve, who has worked extensively on environmental issues as a photographer with Greenpeace over the last 25 years, said: “This image of the Gemasolar Thermo power plant was take last year in Andalucia, Southern Spain. These solar towers I find visually fascinating as well as inspiring a hope and optimism that solutions to global issues of climate change can and are being actively sought and developed. Its an image of a possible and positive future.”
