A main reason why I moved to Hebden Bridge two years ago was that Hebden Bridge is so different from all the clone towns up and down the country, where every high street looks the same.
And tourists come for this very same reason to Hebden Bridge. Sainsbury’s - like any other supermarket - will destroy more local jobs than it creates and endanger our independent shops.
Hebden Bridge is a major attraction in West Yorkshire, and I want to appeal to the 7 councillors of wards Illingworth and Mixenden, Park, Skircoat, Greetland and Stainland, Calder, Park and Luddenden Foot to keep Hebden Bridge unique by voting “NO” at the planning committee meeting in Halifax on Tuesday, September 16, when the Sainsbury’s planning application will be dealt with.
It is expected this agenda item will be discussed after 7pm.
