Calder Valley Youth Theatre’s next ‘Play in a Day’ and ‘Open Mic Night’ will be on Saturday, October 11.

Adrian Horton of the youth theatre said: “If you are new to CVYT and would like to see what we are all about, this is a great way to get involved with us.

“Most of our cast in our main show have started with us at our ‘Play in a Day’ so we do attract some terrific talent. It is also great fun. If you have been involved with us in the past, please come along too, we would love to see as many children attend as possible.

“If you are under 18 and interested, please could you let us know as soon as possible because we will need to know numbers beforehand so that we can choose the most appropriate play.”

Email Adrian in advance at adrian.horton@activacontracts.co.uk and the theatre group will get back to you.

Rehearsals will start at 10am at our rehearsal rooms in The Hebden Bridge Town Hall on Saturday, October 11, and will finish with a performance in the evening. Those taking part will need to bring lunch with them and something to drink throughout the day. The cost for the whole day is £12 per child.

‘Play in a Day’ will be followed by Open Mic Night. If you would like to perform a song, a stand up routine, a dance routine or anything else you have up your sleeve, come along on the night. The Open Mic night is open to all, including parents, brothers and sisters, neighbours, grandparents or anybody who would like to just come along just to watch.

It starts at 7.30. Admission on the night will be £3 which will go towards the cost of putting on the next show, ‘Starlight Express’, which is being staged in November.

“Those in Starlight Express cannot take part in the ‘Play in a Day’ , but we would love to see you at the ‘Open Mic Night’,” said Adrian.

Adrian added: “On the subject of ‘Starlight Express’, tickets are already selling like a plate of very hot cakes! Saturday night has nearly sold out with the other nights, , including the matinee selling well too. Please do not leave it to the last minute to book your tickets as they will sell out well before show week and we can only put on five performances of this classic Andrew Lloyd-Webber musical.”
