It’s back, it’s here - it’s the best value fun packed event of the year!
Who says that lions and pigs can’t mix?
Following on from a packed-out fundraiser last autumn, Todmorden Lions are again inviting you to have a friendly flutter for a good cause.
The Lions are unpacking their clockwork pigs for a Pig Racing Evening at Todmorden High School on Saturday, October 11, at Todmorden High School, Ewood Lane, at 7.30pm. Tickets for the event are only £5 each and that includes a pie and pea supper. There is no bar at the event but attendees can bring their own drinks.
In addition, the first 48 people to purchase two tickets get an added bonus - at no extra cost- to become pig owners/sponsors for the night.
That means they can name their pig and have the chance to win a prize if their pig wins its race.
Last year’s first event saw money raised go to help fund a sports chair for Todmorden’s Great Britain wheelchair table tennis star Megan Shackleton.
There is no specific cause at this year’s event but will be to boost the club’s Charity Fund after supporting many causes during the last Lions year.
Lion Rod Wainwright said: “That will help us to support more causes during the coming year. Remember every penny of profit raised by the Lions goes to charity. Nothing is taken out for administration costs, so hurry to be one of the first 48 ticket buyers and become an owner/sponsor.”
Anyone who agttended last year’s event will testify to what a fun evening it was. The pigs were totally unpredictable in terms of who was going to win once on their way down the course, each race producing its fair share of laughter. It was certainly an evening enjoyed by all ages.
Tickets are available from any Lion, from Todmorden TIC or by ringing 816802.
