Walsden C & FC got off the mark for the season in the Rochdale Online Alliance by upsetting the form book in spectacular style.
Beaten 9-0 by Sacred Heart the previous weekend, they gave up home advantage against Falcon but still won 3-0 in Littleborough.
Boss Dan Howley took the reins for the first time this season and he saw his strengthened side virtually put the game to bed before half time.
Falcon had won three of their four previous Premier games this season but they were soon on the back foot, Joe Gale heading Walsden in front after 15 minutes from Gary Brierley’s free kick.
There was a stroke of fortune about the second goal after half an hour, Matthew Town’s cross cum shot deflecting in off a defender’s head.
Nathan Rooks then bagged Walsden’s third when he returned a poor clearance from the ‘keeper with interest.
The best chance of the second half fell to Brierley, who was unable to convert from three yards out.
Howley is confident results will continue to improve with the return of players. He said it had been a good team performance with Josh Gale outstanding in a dominant midfield and all the back four playing well.
Walsden have signed midfielder Danny Welsh from Todmorden Borough and striker Danny Brown returns from suspension.
Meanwhile, Walsden have been offered Calder Holmes as a home venue by Calderdale Council after being told they cannot play on Walsden Rec, adjacent to the cricket club.
That is because flood defence work is being carried out at Centre Vale and Todmorden juniors are playing more matches at Walsden.
Walsden are reluctant to take up the council’s offer having set up the football club to utilise the cricket club’s facilities during the winter.
“We’ve no home pitch and it is a bit of a pain,” said club secretary Kenny Gale.
“There were two teams on the ground on Sunday but nobody has played on the Rec on a Saturday yet.”
He said Calder Holmes was several miles away and Rochdale League foes travelled from the opposite direction.
