Small grants available to groups in Calder Ward

Calderdale Council has made a total of £ 5,000 available for each ward to be spent by March 2015.

The scheme is being trialled first within the upper valley by the Calder Ward Forum.

The fund must be spent on grants for activities and projects that benefit Calder Ward.

It must be a community group that applies, and that group must have a constitution (or rules), a bank account in the name of the organisation, and a safeguarding policy if they work with children, young people or vulnerable adults. The maximum grant per application is £500.

The Neighbourhood Team is running the scheme for that ward.

Due to the short timescale this year, the decisions will be taken by Ward Councillors and the Neighbourhood Teams and reported back to Ward Forums. In the future Ward Forums will be more involved in the decision making process and will be able to influence priorities and projects.

Application forms should be sent to the Neighbourhood Team for the panel to consider and must meet certain priorities.

For more information and an online form, email wardforums@calderdale.gov.uk or ring Steve Martin, on 01422 392317.

Applications must be received by noon on Friday, January 9, 2015 to be eligible for this round of grants.
