Todmorden is talked about by 700 incredible edible groups in 25 countries across the globe.
This month Mary Clear spoke at a two day conference in France sharing a platform with groups from Palestine, Morocco and other countries the latest group is in Tahiti and they all refer back to Todmorden where it all started.
Who would ever of thought that so many would look towards our little northern town for inspiration, even our police are known across the globe.
This month also marks an incredible event, the retirement of a very special friend of our group and our town Sergeant Michael Bowden.
On Monday we showed our appreciation in true incredible style with a “Secret Policeman’s lunch” at the AquaGarden.
Mickey was presented with a very cheesy medal for showing valour in the face of movie cameras having been filmed by news and film crews from all parts of the globe.
He soon became famous all over Europe and was a special hit in Switzerland talking about community in a very human way showing that coppers are real people not just a uniform. A lot of this we captured in a special scrap book which we presented to him, there was just too much to fit in so extra pages were rolled and tied with ribbon.
There was a very special cake made for us by Emma’s Cakes that we hops showed our Sergeant Mickey just how much we appreciate all he has done for us and our incredible town. We hate to lose him but we know he has to go so we want to say a very special thank you Mickey for everything.
Constable Ryan Stockton was our secret policeman organising getting Sergeant Bowden to the lunch on time and without him knowing and will now be our go to man for news interviews having already done some over the last year, hard shoes to fill Ryan but we know you can do it, but the last word has to be for Mickey “May your retirement be long and happy and bring you everything you want it too you will think always think of you as our incredible friend”
Kidsfest
Don’t forget there will be incredible folk at Kidsfest on December 6, all the old favourites like reindeer food and cooking on a candle plus new and exciting things for small people so come along and share the fun. This year the café and refreshments will be done by Todmorden foodbank volunteers with all money raised going toward their amazing work.
