Todmorden Borough are hoping it is third time lucky when they bid to host Haslingden St Mary’s in Division Two of the West Lancashire League on Saturday.
Borough have had successive home games against Stoneclough and Furness Cavaliers called off, waterlogging at Bellholme making it an easy decision last weekend.
Tod last played in a 1-1 draw at Barrow Wanderers on November 29 and they remain 10th in the table after last Saturday, when Ladybridge and Walney Island won the only two games in the section to go ahead.
“It is frustrating, especially when you have a full team available,” said manager Craig Milnes.
“We were supposed to have a run of six home games in seven weeks with an easier game to start with and then a bit harder one last week.
“That should have built us up nicely to play a higher side (Haslingden) but there is nothing we can do about the weather.
“At least Haslingden is only about 35 minutes away so we don’t have to make an early decision on Saturday.”
Milnes, who will attend his son Joshua’s roller skating party for his seventh birthday before Saturday’s game, will be without Jamie Melvin and Dean Farry for the Saints test.
After Saturday, Borough’s next fixture is at home to Leyland United on January 3.
Woodhouse United’s difficult season in the Rochdale Sunday League reached a new low with an 11-0 defeat away to Asia.
It was mainly one-way traffic against opponents United had met in a stormy encounter earlier in the season.
However, cousins Joe and Jay Connor did their best to stem the tide and ‘keeper Ash Hammond ensured the scoreline was not even worse.
Asia led 4-0 at half time, Woodhouse having had all on to raise 11 players with at least one refusing to play after the first meeting between the sides.
Woodhouse have a chance to put those episodes behind them on Sunday when they travel to mid-table FC Waggon, who are sure to be expecting an easy ride.
Marc Walters, Gary Fish and Chris Ford are among the players who should return.
Walsden C & FC are facing a month of inactivity after last weekend’s Rochdale Online Alliance home game with Falcon was called off on Saturday morning.
Walsden last played in a 2-1 cup defeat by Sudden on December 6 and are not due to play again until January 10.
They should get an outing then because their meeting with Balderstone is on the 3G pitch at Kingsway.
