Todmorden Labour Party has chosen Coun Jayne Booth to be its candidate and defend her Todmorden ward Calderdale Council seat in May 2015.

Coun Booth, who was Mayor of Todmorden from 2013 to 2014, was unanimously selected as Labour’s choice and is looking forward to campaigning on what Party colleagues say is her formidable track-record.

She first won the ward for Labour in May 2011.

Coun Booth said: “I am both honoured and privileged to have been re-selected to stand as the Labour candidate for Todmorden.

“The last four years have been a great opportunity for me to gain the knowledge to understand how our town works.

“I had the pleasure of holding the Todmorden mayoral office and have met some truly inspirational people from all across our town both young and old.

“I would like to think that it was my input and campaigning that secured a new lift at the Town Hall.

“I am also proud to have worked tirelessly to save services across our town and work in partnership to promote and secure more.

“I was a founder of the Todmorden Food drop in and I firmly hoped that this now vital service wouldn’t be needed in our town. Sadly it is.

“I aim to continue supporting our town by campaigning to develop support and promote Todmorden to enhance its economy and develop employment and investment opportunities whilst campaigning to save vital services provided by the NHS, SureStart and other educational services.

“I would like to thank everyone for their continued support.”
