This month saw Todmorden High School hold its annual presentation evening to celebrate the achievements of those students who completed their GCSE and A Level examinations in Summer 2014.

This cohort were the most successful in Todmorden High School’s history and their GCSE achievements have taken the town’s high school from the bottom five per cent of schools nationally to the top third of schools in the UK.

A school spokesperson said: “Our A-level students were also very successful and we were delighted that over 95 per cent of students going on to higher education at university secured the grades that they needed to attend their first choice university.

“ In addition to this, we also had students who successfully secured higher apprenticeships; one student is now training to be an accountant with a firm in Littleborough and another student training to become a computer games developer with a company in Manchester.”

Students were presented with their GCSE and A Level certificates and there were also some special awards presented to our students including The Mike Kershaw Award for outstanding progress in Post 16; The Mike Wardle Award for outstanding achievement in Product Design; The Dorothy Lapish Award for outstanding progress in modern foreign languages; The Hilary Myers award for care for the Environment; The Hudson Award for outstanding performance in the humanities; The Jack Bednall Memorial Award for Art; and The John McNair Memorial Prize for Outstanding Achievement in the study of modern foreign languages.

“We are exceptionally proud of each and every student and what they have achieved during their time at Todmorden High School, they are an absolute asset to the school and the Todmorden community.

“We would like to thank parents, governors and staff at the school for their ongoing unprecedented support as without them the school would not have made the rapid transformation that it has over the last two years,” said the spokesperson.
