Walsden C & FC bid to book a place in the semi-finals of the Rochdale Online Alliance’s Chairman’s Cup on Saturday.

The take on fellow title contenders White Lion at Kingsway in their final group game.

Walsden made it two wins out of three so far with an impressive 7-1 success away to Falcon last weekend.

Another win will take them through to the semi-finals with two teams qualifying from each of the two groups.

Walsden could hardly be in better heart for a third meeting of the season against Lion, after a win and a draw.

Boss Dan Howley thought last Saturday’s performance was their best of the season, their passing game helped by playing on an artificial pitch at Littleborough Sports Centre.

Falcon were blown away, initially by leading scorer Danny Brown who bagged a hat-trick in the first 20 minutes. Joe Gale scored the fourth but Falcon replied with a superb free-kick before the interval.

Brown scored his fourth before being taken off and that cleared the way for Gale to take centre stage, completing his hat-trick with two more.

Harry Whitehead, Paul Marrow and Josh Gale could all be available again to face White Lion, leaving Howley with a selection headache.
