Bridgeholme have high hopes that their yo-yo existence of recent years will be ended this season.
The Eastwood club’s first and second teams were promoted last September and while some clubs are struggling for numbers, Bridgeholme have launched a third team.
Stones provide Saturday’s opening day opposition, with the first team at Bridgeholme, and club stalwart Keith Hudson is optimistic of a good season.
The firsts were relegated from Division One at the end of 2013 but Hudson believes other teams are getting weaker while Bridgeholme are developing.
Chris Kibble has retained the captaincy and Hudson said “I don’t think the step up some be too much of a problem for them.”
Greetland all-rounder Tariq Mahmood has been added to squad and Hudson added: “They are all as keen as mustard and have practiced well.”
Booth head to champions Jer Lane in the pick of the opening day fixtures in the Foster’s Halifax League.
Lane are looking for a third successive title and Booth’s league side all-rounder Richard Laycock conceded they were probably the team to beat again this season.
“We’ll give 100 per cent and do our best,” he said.
New signing Usman Saghir from Warley will be keen to make an impact and Booth would be delighted if he can quickly dismiss Chris Shannon, who has switched to Lane in the close season.
Mytholmroyd head to promoted promoted Queensbury having lost Chris White and Barry Hawksworth to Blackley but signed Amjid Azam from Warley.
Another departure from ‘Royd is Jonny Cowans. Old Town, who finished bottom of theleague last year and start at Greetland, will be grateful for his services.
Luddenden Foot, who hoep to improve on last year’s fifth place in the middle section, begin with a trip to Northowram Hedge Top.
