ONE of the founders of Incredible Edible Todmorden has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship of Leeds Metropolitan University.
Pam Warhurst received the honour from the chairman of the university’s board of governors, Lord Woolmer of Leeds, in recognition of her work as a champion of local community service and environmental causes.
Pam was presented with the award at a graduation ceremony in front of 600 students and their parents and friends.
She gave a speech to graduating students from environment courses, telling them about the principles behind Incredible Edible and the way in which it has put Todmorden on the map as a leading light in promoting sustainable development and food-based education and regeneration.
During the speech, she also challenged the newly qualified young professionals to follow her lead, and that of fellow Todmordians, by going out into their own communities and doing something similarly “incredible”, spreading the message even further around the UK and the world.
