Todmorden Post Office will re-open next week with a new look and longer opening hours after undergoing a modernisation project.
The Post Office is refurbishing the Todmorden branch to give it a new, open plan style as part of plans to modernise the network.
Todmorden Post Office shut on Tuesday evening and will re-open on Thursday, May 16, at 9am.
Adrian Wales, Post Office regional network manager for Central England, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Todmorden and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
“This modernisation is part of a three-year investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see around 6,000 branches - about half the Post Office network - converting to new style branches.
“This investment makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
Todmorden Post Office will have four serving positions - a mixture of three screened counter positions and a Post Office serving point at the retail counter.
This is a new concept for delivering Post Office products and services alongside retail transactions during opening hours.
It will be open 11 more hours a week. The extended hours will be 8.30am until 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 8.30am until 5.30pm on Saturday.
During the closure, the nearest branches are Lydgate Post Office, 344 Burnley Road, Todmorden, and Hebden Bridge Post Office.
