The WEA is offering three one-day courses in creative writing, all at the newly-refurbished Birchcliffe Centre, Hebden Bridge.
“Write a Short Story in a Day” with Anna Turner will look at the structure of the short story and aim to complete a first draft of one. It is on Saturday, June 8 (book by Wednesday, May 29). “Writing Places”, also with Anna, offers a day of creative writing using place and setting as inspiration. It will include a short walk so some mobility is necessary as well as suitable footwear. The course is on Saturday, July 6 (book by Wednesday, June 29). “Poetry Summer School” with Sally Baker offers a day of poetry-writing, using games and exercises to generate new poems, and an afternoon workshop. The course is on Friday, July 12 (book by Wednesday, July 3).
Each course runs from 10am to 4.30pm, and costs £19, free if you are in receipt of income-related benefits. Book by phoning WEA Regional Office on 0113 245 3304, or on-line at www.wea.org.uk/yh
