Calder Creative combines a workshop which contains space where Richard has begun a picture framing business, and gallery space which opened with work from three artists over its first weekend.
Richard studied in creative arts at Bretton Hall College, West Yorkshire, in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and began framing on a small scale about ten years ago.
A-level student Rhiannan hopes to study business management and finance but is also creative, hand-making candles and designing hand made cards for the opening event.
It featured work from abstract artist Christine Nichol, whose next exhibition is at Platform One Gallery at Todmorden Railway Station from August 1 to 25, ceramic artist Gary Thomas, who is also a painter and printworker, and textile artist Hannah Thurman, all three being from Todmorden.
Opening the gallery, Mary Clear MBE, of Incredible Edible Todmorden, said it showed the sort of industry by which Todmordians made a success of themselves and was pleased to be asked to cut the ribbon.
