Cycling enthusiasts took to the renowed cobbles of the Buttress at the weekend to tackle the steep climb as part of the South Pennines Walk and Ride Festival.

More than 40 riders battled the Hebden Bridge hill, dubbed the Buttress, as they took the chance to be named King or Queen of the Buttress.

Crowds gathered to cheer on the brave participants as they took on the 400 year steep climb.

The quickest rider, Thomas Nelson, came off on top with a time of two minutes and 36 seconds, while Beate Kubitz won for the ladies with a time of three minutes 50 seconds.

Thomas Nelson sped to the top to win the under 14 section with a speedy time of two minutes and 36 seconds.

The festival started on September 6 and will run through to September 21.
